Only if you qualify. The 3-hour refresher is valid when you hold a current California commission, have completed a 6-hour course at least once before, and are applying for reappointment before your current commission expires. If your commission has already expired, or you’re a first-time applicant, you must take the 6-hour course.
What happens if my commission already expired?
Once your commission expires, the 3-hour refresher no longer qualifies — even by a day. You’ll need to complete the full 6-hour course again before you can be reappointed. If you’re close to expiring, don’t wait.
